Are You Eligible?

The Village Shop Programme supports both commercial and community shops.
To be eligible you must
- Be located in the South West counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset former Avon, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire
- Run a shop in a village with a population of less than 2,000
- Be where the shop is the last outlet in the village selling groceries
- Annual turnover is above £100,000 and does not exceed £500,000 per annum
- The business employs at least one external member of staff

The Community-Owned Start-Up Programme supports community groups wishing to establish a community owned shop.
To be eligible you must
- Be located in the South West counties of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset former Avon, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire
- Be located in a rural community with not less than 200 residents
- Become the only outlet in the village selling groceries
- Be a community organisation/group: not individuals
- Be or become an incorporated and socially-owned legal entity
- Provide identifiable benefits to a minimum of 50 rural residents whose lives would be significantly disadvantaged without the presence of a village shop
